Forks Up! The sports scene at ASU
Sports are huge here. ASU competes in 26 Big 12 men’s and women’s sports, and in 2024–2025 we won the Big 12 championships in football, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s swimming and diving.
The student fans are a big part of our success in sports. Gameday traditions get the entire ASU community pumped up and ready for action. It’s why ASU was recently ranked No. 5 in the U.S. for student pride in athletics among public universities, according to the Princeton Review.

Additionally, you’ll have opportunities to work at and experience at the upcoming 2026 World Cup soccer tournament in cities across the U.S. and the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Metro Phoenix has established itself as one of the premier sports cities in the U.S with six pro sports teams, and ASU students have lots of opportunities to intern with the teams.

Phoenix Rising FC Every February and March, 15 Major League Baseball teams play Cactus League spring training ball across the Valley.
Additionally, metro Phoenix hosts the annual Waste Management Phoenix Open, and is a frequent host of the Super Bowl and NASCAR races. It will host the Women’s Final Four in 2026.
